blue 42

It's almost that time of year. My husband's favorite weekend is almost here.
The Superbowl.

A self-proclaimed holiday in our house, The Superbowl is a day full of fun, football, family, friends and, our favorite F of all, food. (the commercials are a blast too, but that doesn't start with an F now does it)

We are big planners in our house. Well, I am. My husband just humors my OCD tendencies and goes along for the ride. But he was the one two weeks ago who asked, "So what's our superbowl food lineup going to be?"

As of now, we think we are doing
two kinds of pizza
large sub
meat free sub
homemade fries or homemade chips
7-layer dip with guacamole on the side and tortilla chips

We might add some healthy options with veggies and hummus, and a spinach/artichoke dip. I was going to make more cookies but I think a cake will be sufficient.

While our team (Giants) aren't playing this year, sometimes it makes the Superbowl much more enjoyable... you can relax, not scream at the TV, be able to breathe continuously, end the night with a normal blood pressure, not be kneeling in prayer position....

Not that any of this happened last year:

What foods are you including with your superbowl lineup?

  1. I totally need to get on this! Is it really this weekend? We're Vikes fans, so no worries there about them being on :/ but you're so right, it is so much less stressful to just enjoy the show...especially half time!

    Have fun!

  2. I know - it really sneaks up on you
The biggest downside, I think, to the superbowl especially when your team is playing is there are no ideal bathroom breaks! You don't wanna miss the game, the commercials or halftime....

  3. We don't do the Superbowl thing here at our house, but I'm kind of jealous. I don't mind an excuse to have a party and lots of food! :)

  4. I know, right? I'll take any excuse!

  5. Hey, Sarah! Thank you for visiting and following my blog. And yes, I'm from Scranton, Pa! How about you? =]

    1. Yes!!! Such a small world (well I live right outside but work in Scranton)

    2. Yes, definitely a small world! I never met a blogger from Scranton before, great to know you. =]

  6. I'm not even sure where I'm going to watch the game yet! I do know, however, that I WILL be watching. ;) My 49ers are playing, so I'm super pumped! As for food--I've pinned a few recipes I'd love to try! If I don't have time to cook, I'm always happy with a big bowl of guacamole and chips. :)

    1. MMMmmm we love guacamole in our house!
Always so exciting when your team makes it. We are actually rooting for the 49ers on Sunday ourselves. Should be a great game.

  7. Great blog and nice post ;) I will be here more often, I'm your new follower. Don't forget to visit my blog too!

    1. Thank you so much - I will be following along with you as well!
